Class Descriptions & Fee-Based Classes

20/20 Endurance

20 exercises in 20 minutes! This challenging and motivating workout starts with light stretching followed by high, medium, and low impact exercises followed by (AMRAPS) as many reps as possible. Modifications are given so anyone can participate and leave class feeling successful.

Absolute Abs

Conditioning the abdominal core with exercises that increase muscular strength and endurance. Class concludes with stretching.

Adult CPR/AED

Will prepare you to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults, and features award-winning simulation learning an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting. This course does not meet OSHA requirements for workplace certification.

Adult First aid/CPR/AED

Will prepare you to recognize and care for emergencies. Features award-winning simulation learning an interactive experience where you will respond to real-world emergencies in a virtual setting to help prepare you to recognize and respond to a variety of first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies involving adults. This course does not meet OSHA requirements for workplace certification.

Will prepare you to recognize and care for emergencies. Anaphylaxis and Epinephrine AutoInjector

Will teach you the signs and symptoms of anaphylaxis and how to care for a person having a severe allergic reaction, including how to administer epinephrine using an auto-injector device.

AI CHI

Ai Chi is a water-based total body strengthening and relaxation progression that integrates mental, physical and spiritual energy. It combines Tai-Chi concepts with Shiatsu and Watsu techniques and is performed in shoulder-deep water using a combination of breathing and slow, broad movements of the arms, legs and torso. The Ai Chi progressions moves from simple breathing, to the incorporation of upper-extremity, trunk, lower-extremity and finally total body involvement.

Barre Body

Combines barre movements with weighted exercise and cardio to increase strength, muscle endurance, core fitness and balance.

Bloodborne Pathogens

Designed for those who are at risk for on the job exposure to blood and other bodily fluids in the workplace. Teaches staff how bloodborne pathogens are spread, how to avoid exposure and what to do if exposed to infectious material.

BUILD Your Core

Mat-based core training that includes abdominals, back, glutes, and hip stabilizer muscles.  This low-impact class focuses on strength, flexibility, and balance.

Cardio Kickboxing

Full body workout with cardio bursts.  Boxing mixed with high intensity moves to burn calories, build strength and muscles!  Bring gloves to class.

Cardio/Tone

Join in for a great workout with great results.  You will strengthen your cardiovascular system and your muscles while having lots of fun!  This class is suitable for all fitness levels.

Cat and Dog First Aid

You love your pets, and want to give them the best life possible; being equipped to deliver first aid and provide a healthy lifestyle for your pet is the best way to do that. You will learn the basics of providing first aid care for your cat or dog, and will learn how to best give care for common emergency situations. Also covers understanding your pet's vital signs, breathing and cardiac emergencies, wounds and bleeding, seizures, and preventative care for cats and dogs.

Child and Baby First Aid/CPR/AED

Will prepare you to recognize and care for emergencies. Combat Cardio

A high energy martial arts-inspired workout that is completely non-contact. Punch and kick your way to fitness.

CoreWorx

Hones in on the torso and sling muscles connecting your upper and lower body. Great for tightening abs and glutes, improving strength and assisting in injury prevention.

CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider Certification

Benderson Family Building only
Teaches those with a duty to act in an emergency the skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. Course components include learning to survey the scene, how to protect the rescuer and victim, providing first aid, as well as ventilations, care for choking victims, CPR, AED, blood-borne pathogens, and responding to an emergency for adults, children, and infants.

Dance Fitness

Get fit to great music and moves! Class includes Zumba, line dancing, and other fun dance-type exercise.

First Aid Health and Safety for Coaches

Gives students an overview of first aid and "best practices" for many first aid situations encountered by coaches. Students learn skills related to athletic injuries that may also be useful for injuries to officials, fellow coaches or spectators. Topics include: Checking an Unconscious Athlete; Asthma; Sudden Illness; Heat Related Illnesses; Wounds; Injuries to the Head, Neck and Spine; Psychological and Mental Health Problems.

First Aid for Opioid Overdoses

Will provide you with the knowledge and confidence you need to respond to a suspected opioid overdose emergency. You will learn to identify the signs and symptoms of a suspected opioid overdose and then the appropriate care to provide based on the responsiveness of the person. This course includes information on how to use several different naloxone products -- a nasal atomizer, Narcan and EVZIO -- to reverse the effects of an opioid overdose.

First Aid for Severe Bleeding

Will prepare you to recognize severe, life-threatening bleeding emergencies and to take action to stop the flow of blood. You will learn how and when to control bleeding by applying a tourniquet and hemostatic dressing.

Gentle Yoga

A calming, stress relieving, and rejuvenating Hatha yoga class to stretch, strengthen, and heal the body. Emphasis is on building awareness of the breath and body through movement and stillness. Yoga postures and sequences are practiced at a slower pace with special attention to alignment and detail. Blankets, blocks, and pillows are used to deepen poses and rest in restorative postures. This class is recommended for all levels.

Get PUMPED!

Strengthens your entire body and challenges your major muscle groups.

Get Stretched

For anyone who would like to increase their flexibility and range of motion. You will learn how to safely stretch tight muscles, while learning correct spinal movements for added mobility in your daily activities. Appropriate for all fitness levels.

Glutes Galore

Glutes are the largest muscle group of the body so come join the class to isolate, strengthen and tone the glutes!

Hatha Flow Yoga

Hatha Yoga uses postures and conscious breathing in combination with mental focus to develop awareness, strength, flexibility and relaxation. Beginner

H.I.I.T

Burn fat without losing muscle. Within each workout participants experience short intervals of training that deliver a calorie drenching workout and post metabolic boost.

Les Mills BodyAttack®

Cardio workout that improves your speed, fitness, strength and agility. Easy moves.

Les mills BodyPump

The original barbell class that strengthens your entire body. Challenges your major muscle groups by using squats, presses, lifts and curls.

Les Mills Core

Hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper and lower body. Great for tightening your tummy and butt. Improve strength and assist in injury prevention.

Update: Members will be required to bring their own mats and resistance bands to use while at the JCC.  We offer Mats: $13+tax and Resistance Bands: $10+tax. 

Mat Pilates

A mind body discipline which uses breathing with exercises to develop core control and Pilates which develops mental power and control.

Pilates Barre Fusion

Combines both Pilates and Barre techniques. Pilates uses breathing and exercises to develop core and mental control of the body. Barre is no impact and focuses on functional movements, full range of motion and body alignment.

Power Pilates

This class takes the classic Pilates format and cranks it up a notch (or two!). This is for the advanced student who is ready to challenge their core in a condensed, fast-paced, high energy class. Very few modifications will be provided. Light hand weights will serve as a bonus in many of the exercises, but are not required. (This class is not recommended for those recovering from injuries, especially injuries of the low back.)

Psychological First Aid: Supporting Yourself and Others During COVID-19

The uncertainty associated with a global health crisis like COVID-19 challenges everyone's ability to cope. This course will help you to build resilience and support yourself and others through this crisis by reviewing basic principles of providing psychological first aid, including how to recognize and manage stress in yourself and in others and how to lend support to family members, friends and coworkers during and following the COVID-19 outbreak.

Returning to Work During COVID-19

Provides guidance to employees about actions they can take to keep themselves, their coworkers, their families and their community safe as businesses reopen and workers return to work. It also provides employees with insight into new or modified policies and procedures that business owners may implement to maintain a safe work environment and protect employees health during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Safety Training for Swim Coaches

Teaches those involved in competitive swimming how to help maintain a comfortable and safe environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land.

Seated/Standing Yoga

A unique yoga style that adapts yoga positions and poses through the creative use of a chair. Poses are practiced seated on the chair or the chair is used for support during standing and balance poses. Emphasis is on breathing, balance, strength, flexibility,  and relaxation. Suitable for all ages, fitness levels and physical conditions.

Silversneakers Cardio

Safe, healthy and gentle on the joints. Includes easy low-impact movement and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises.

Silversneakers Classic

Increase strength and movement for daily living. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing, and a SilverSneakers ball are used for resistance. A chair is used for support.

Splash Fitness

Splash Fitness is an aerobic exercise class that uses the body's resistance in the water. It is a low impact medium intensity workout. You may bring your own noodle as equipment will not be available to borrow.

Strength Training

Build stamina, coordination and agility. Improve your functional strength with body weight exercises with planks and hovers. Appropriate for all levels.

Stretch It Out

Stretching is the most overlooked aspect of fitness.  Stretching elongates the muscles, improves flexibility, decreases the risk of injury and helps with daily stiffness.  This class offers a wide variety of overall body stretches to improve overall flexibility.

Total Body Workout

Combines step and kickboxing moves for strength and endurance. Class uses free-weights for strengthening arms, back and core muscles.

U.P. Ultimate Power

Why U.P.? You can only go UP from here. Instructed by Jodee and Rene, short warm up followed by 15 minutes of H.I.I.T., 20 minutes of circuit training stations, and 5 minutes of yoga stretching as a cool down.

Vinyasa Yoga

Classes offer students a greater challenge. Once postures are mastered, students are taught to transition their postures in a breath synchronized motion. Intermediate-advance.

Water in Motion

WATERinMOTION® is a pre-choreographed, quarterly-released group aqua exercise program that refreshes your member experience every 3 months with new choreography, music and marketing. With land equivalent intensity, fantastic sing-along quality music, and dynamic instructors, enjoy the pure fun of this hour water extravaganza.

Yoga

Encompasses the mind, body, and spirit while improving flexibility, strength and relaxation.

Zumba

Ditch the workout and join the party. Come work up a sweat in this blast of a class!

Zumba + Barre

This fun fusion class combines a Zumba cardio blast with the muscle lengthening and endurance benefits of Barre. Beginners welcome!

JCC Running Clubs

Running Club- Beginner

Al Lewis, JCC Personal Trainer, will lead a 1 to 3 mile run through downtown Buffalo. Participants must check in at the JCC and meet outside in the parking lot.

Running Club - Intermediate

Al Lewis, JCC Personal Trainer, will take you on a group run of approximately 4 miles through downtown Buffalo. Participants must check in at the JCC and meet outside in the parking lot.
