Jim Gibbons, Video Production Specialist for JCC Buffalo, believes the best way to become a better digital storyteller is to jump right in and start capturing footage. Whether that means snapping hundreds of photos throughout the day, figuring out the best position to frame a camera to record engaging video, or talking to people to get their perspective, getting that real-world experience is the best way to learn and perfect your craft. With nearly 15 years of experience in the digital world, Jim looks forward to helping new and experienced photographers, and videographers find their love for digital storytelling.

Jim graduated from Lyndon State College in 2008 with a degree in Television Studies: Broadcast News. He worked for nearly a decade in broadcast as a reporter, videographer, and producer. During that time, Jim told hundreds of stories while directly involved in every aspect of the process, from gathering footage and talking to people to script writing and editing the final piece. In 2017, Jim left broadcast news to become a Marketing Videographer at SUNY Fredonia, where he helped tell the universities story by creating promotional videos about the student experience, hands-on teaching by faculty, and successful alums.
