Dear JRT Patrons and Subscribers,
It is my honor and privilege to assume the position of Director of Performing Arts for the JCC and JRT. Theater is not just my profession, it’s my passion and I’m blessed to be doing what I love. You may have seen me on stage at the JCC as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof (JCC Children’s Youth Theatre) or playing the title role in JRT’s production of My Name is Asher Lev. I’ve acted in and directed several JRT shows and readings and performed on many other local stages including Irish Classical Theatre, Shakespeare in Delaware Park, Musicalfare, Kavinoky and Theatre of Youth. In addition to acting I’ve been employed at the JRT as Administrative Associate and have been involved in all aspects of the Theater. As I step into my new role I look forward to continuing to promote the mission of the JRT along side Artistic Director Saul Elkin, as we bring Jewish Theater to everyone.
On Behalf of the Jewish Repertory Theatre of WNY and the JCC of Greater Buffalo we would like to thank everyone who supported us during our 18th season. The Covid-19 pandemic posed an unprecedented challenge for our theater as well as theaters around the globe. Through your gracious support we were able to pivot to a five-play virtual staged reading format that was viewed in over 45 cities across the US and Canada. We also teamed with our Cultural Arts department and Moment magazine for a live world premier Zoom reading of Nancy Kelton’s Finding Mr. Rightstein. Along with these productions we were able to conduct interviews with all five playwrights involved in our season, all of which are still available to view on the JCC Buffalo YouTube page.

Nothing can replace the experience of live theater. Following a 15 month absence of live shows and programming, JRT is proud to announce a return to the stage for our three play 2021-2022 season, all performed live in-person at the Robert and Maxine Sellers Theatre at the Jewish Community Center Benderson Family Building.

In addition to our three-show season, please watch out for future announcements about our new play reading series, exciting community collaborations, and special events.

Season subscriptions and single show tickets will be going on sale in July.  Visit https://www.jccbuffalo.org/jrt/ for more information.

New this year, all JCC members will receive a 25% discount on season subscriptions and individual tickets. This includes virtual, silver sneakers, and other insurance-based memberships. For more information on becoming a member please click HERE.

The safety of our audience, actors, and crew are always our number one priority. JRT and the JCC will continue to abide by New York State regulations and safety guidelines to insure a safe, comfortable and enjoyable return to live theater.

Once again, we thank you for your support and can’t wait to see you this season!
– Adam Yellen, Director of Performing Arts
