American Red Cross® Certifications
Our award-winning American Red Cross® Training & Programs certify lifeguards and professional rescuers throughout the year. With experienced Lifeguard Instructors(L.G.I.), Water Safety Instructors(W.S.I.), and Instructor Trainers(I.T.), we offer a broad range of classes and schedules while consistently providing exceptional quality instruction. If interested in working at the JCC, all participants who successfully complete Lifeguard Certification at the JCC will be eligible for employment at a JCC facility. After six months of employment, they will be fully reimbursed for Lifeguard Certification costs.

CPR/AED/FIRST AID FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER AND HEALTH CARE PROVIDER CERTIFICATION

Teaches those with a duty to act in an emergency the skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies. Course components include learning to survey the scene, protect the rescuer and victim, provide first aid and ventilations, care for choking victims, CPR, AED, blood-borne pathogens, and responding to an emergency for adults, children, and infants.
CPR/AED/FIRST AID FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER AND HEALTH CARE PROVIDER RE-CERTIFICATION

Reviews and teaches those with a duty to act in an emergency the skills needed to respond appropriately to first aid, breathing and cardiac emergencies. Course components include learning to survey the scene, how to protect the rescuer and victim, providing first aid, as well as ventilations, care for choking victims, CPR, AED, blood-borne pathogens, and responding to an emergency for adults, children, and infants.
LIFEGUARDING CERTIFICATION

This Blended Learning class is partially done online through the American Red Cross website 48 hours before the first class. Registration using the participant's name and email (not parent) through the American Red Cross must be completed 48 hours before the first classroom session. An email with instructions for Blended Learning Registration will be sent out upon payment confirmation. Proof of completion for Lessons 1-4 must be brought to the first classroom session. Passing all swimming prerequisites is required at the first classroom session (300yd swim, 2-minute tread using legs only, and timed 10lb brick retrieval test). Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications are valid for two years, CPR/AED certifications are valid for one year.
Blended Learning
LIFEGUARDING RECERTIFICATION

This course is for the recertification of lifeguards. Participants must re-certify all components of their original lifeguarding course and certification. Passing all swimming prerequisites is required at the first session (300yd swim, 2-minute tread using legs only, and timed 10lb brick retrieval test). Lifeguard Certification must be current or expired by no more than 30 days on the first day of the course to be eligible--otherwise, a full certification must be taken.
WATER SAFETY INSTRUCTOR

This is an advanced instructor-level class from American Red Cross for candidates who want to become swim instructors, aquatics managers, or NYS-certified Phys Ed. Teachers. Providing instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program by developing their understanding of how to use course materials, conducting training sessions, and evaluating participants' progress. Attendance is mandatory in all classes. Course materials may be downloaded from the American Red Cross Learning Center website. Student teaching and classroom discussions included. This is a Blended Learning Offering. Registration through the American Red Cross must be completed 48 hours before the first classroom session.
