Water Group Fitness Schedule, Reservations & Descriptions

We are now offering group fitness classes in the water. You can browse through the fitness schedules for both locations as well as reserve your spot for the class of your choice. Fee based classes can be found using the buttons on the bottom of the page.

Class Descriptions

AI CHI

Ai Chi is a water-based total body strengthening and relaxation progression that integrates mental, physical and spiritual energy. It combines Tai-Chi concepts with Shiatsu and Watsu techniques and is performed in shoulder-deep water using a combination of breathing and slow, broad movements of the arms, legs and torso. The Ai Chi progressions moves from simple breathing, to the incorporation of upper-extremity, trunk, lower-extremity and finally total body involvement.

Aqua Barre Fusion

Mixing land barre class with water exercise to get a dynamic and energetic aerobic class. Medium intensity.

Aqua Cardio Blast

All ages and fitness levels will enjoy this workout! Short intervals of cardio exercise at your own pace mixed with stretching and rest.

Aquacise

Low intensity workout: flexibility, balance, and light cardiovascular training.

Flexorcise

Walking, stretching, and range of motion exercises for those with joint or other issues.

HYDRORIDER 45

Benderson Family Building only
Burn calories in the water with this low impact, high resistance aqua spin bike! Registration required – Spaces Limited (at the Member Services Desk).

Lifeguarding Certification

This Blended Learning class is partially done online through the American Red Cross website 48 hours prior to the first class. Registration using participant's name and email (not parent) through the American Red Cross must be completed 48 hours prior to the first classroom session. An email with instructions for Blended Learning Registration will be sent out upon confirmation of payment. Proof of completion for Lessons 1-4 must be brought to first classroom session. Passing all swimming prerequisites is required at first classroom session (300yd swim, 2 minute tread using legs only and timed 10lb brick retrieval test). Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications are valid for 2 years, CPR/AED certifications are valid for 1 year.

Lifeguard Management

Designed to prepare aquatic professionals to effectively manage lifeguards and help keep patrons, staff and facilities safe. There are no prerequisites for this course. The person may or may not have a lifeguarding background, and may manage seasonal or year-round operations.

Lifeguarding Recertification

This course is for recertification of lifeguards. Participants must re-certify all components of their original lifeguarding course and certification. Passing all swimming prerequisites is required at first session (300yd swim, 2 minute tread using legs only and timed 10lb brick retrieval test). Lifeguard Certification must be current or expired by no more than 30 days on the first day of the course to be eligible--otherwise a full certification must be taken.

Safety Training for Swim Coaches

Teaches those involved in competitive swimming how to help maintain a comfortable and safe environment for swimmers, prevent accidents and emergencies and respond to swimmers with illnesses or injuries in water or on land.

Small Group Interval Training

Maximize your cardio training. For experienced exercisers. Limited to 15 participants. One day and two day options available. Registration required.

Splash Fitness

Splash Fitness is an aerobic exercise class that uses the body's resistance in the water. It is a low impact medium intensity workout. You may bring your own noodle as equipment will not be available to borrow.

Water Aerobics

Cardio and resistance training for the upper & lower body. Use water weights and aerobics to tone and burn calories with an ab training.

Water Exercise

A moderate aerobic workout that concentrates on conditioning using water weights. Moves done suspended in deep or shallow water, with aqua belt.

Water in Motion

WATERinMOTION® is a pre-choreographed, quarterly-released group aqua exercise program that refreshes your member experience every 3 months with new choreography, music and marketing. With land equivalent intensity, fantastic sing-along quality music, and dynamic instructors, enjoy the pure fun of this hour water extravaganza.

Water Safety for Parents and Caregivers

Focuses on developing an awareness of the risks of drowning and how to minimize those risks, especially for young children. Teaches parents and caregivers about the concepts of the circle of drowning prevention, water competency and the chain of drowning survival. It also provides guidance for applying water safety to common environments and situations where children are most at risk for drowning.

Water Safety Instructor

This is an advanced instructor level class from American Red Cross for candidates who want to become swim instructors, aquatics managers, or NYS certified Phys Ed. Teachers. Providing instructor candidates the training needed to teach courses in the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety Program by developing their understanding of how to use course materials, conduct training sessions, and evaluate participants progress. Attendance is mandatory at all classes. Course materials may be downloaded from the American Red Cross Learning Center website. Student teaching and classroom discussions included. This is a Blended Learning Offering. Registration through the American Red Cross must be completed 48 hours prior to the first classroom session.
