Camp Centerland

Camp & Youth Director

Reporting to the Chief Program Officer, the Camp & Youth Director will contribute to the vision, mission, and values of the JCC of Greater Buffalo by providing leadership, development, direction, and oversight to Camp Centerland and Kids’ Place after-school with standards of excellence. As a member of the Program Department, the Camp Director will work with other members of the Program team, at the direction of the Chief Program Officer, to maximize returns on mission and investment.

  1. Supervise, manage and develop all operations and staff of Camp Centerland.
  2. Supervise the staff and youth of the Kids’ Place after-school program to ensure a high quality experience for everyone.
  3. Develop and implement a strategic plan for Camp Centerland and Kids’ Place, in coordination with the Chief Program Officer, executive leadership, staff, and appropriate committees.
  4. Create and manage year-round programming for Camp age children with the intent of cultivating a growing Camp community. 
  5. Prepare budgets and engage in ongoing planning and business development.
  6. Efficiently develop Camp Centerland to maximize revenue and mission by growing participation and creating immersive experiences.
  7. Maintain a high level of applicable professional knowledge, including market analysis, current trends, and best practices through ongoing professional education, investigation, and development of relationships with colleagues and official entities.
  8. Coordinate with Advancement team and Chief Program Officer to maximize donor and grant-based fundraising opportunities and contribute to the cultivation of a culture of philanthropy.
  9. Coordinate with the Member Services team to provide an excellent customer experience.
  10. Coordinate with the Chief Facility Maintenance Officer to ensure a high level of cleanliness and appropriate maintenance of all Camp Centerland facilities.
  11. Coordinate with the Communications and Technology Department to ensure a high level of communication, marketing, family feedback, and effective use of technology to reduce barriers to service.
  12. Communicate and cooperate with colleagues, members, and lay leaders as a member of the Program Department.
  13. Complete additional duties assigned by the Chief Program Officer.
  14. Salary Range:  $65,000-$75,000

Early Childhood

Lead Toddler Teacher: Starting at $15.00/hr

We are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for working with toddlers (18 months-24 months) in our NAEYC accredited Early Childhood Center. Are you organized, creative, nurturing, and do you love working in a team? Minimum qualifications include CDA, Associate’s Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Early Childhood Education, and two years or more experience working with children 18 months and older. Must be available between the hours of 7:30 am-6:00 pm. Full time only. Perks include free gym membership and possible discounts on childcare and summer camp. Salary depends on experience and education.

Lead Universal Pre-K Teacher: Starting at $17.00/hr

we are looking for an individual with a strong work ethic and a passion for working with preschoolers (4-year-olds) in our NAEYC accredited, play-based Early Childhood Center. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s Degree and Teacher Certification in Early Childhood (Birth-2), as this position is in our Buffalo UPK community-based classroom. Must have two years or more experience as a lead teacher for children under 5 years old. Must be available between the hours of 7:30 am-6:00 pm (every morning and various afternoons). Flexible schedule – Full time only. Perks include free gym membership and discounts on childcare and summer camp. Salary depends on experience and education.

Assistant Teachers

Assistant teachers are responsible for providing an environment of acceptance in which children can grow and learn. They will help analyze the developmental needs of each child and evaluate their progress on a regular basis in addition to developing a curriculum that is safe and promotes the physical, emotional, and cognitive growth of children.

Aquatics

Lifeguard – URGENT NEED

Benderson Family Building and Holland Family Building 

The JCC Lifeguard team is responsible for providing a safe and inclusive aquatic environment for Members and Guests of all ages, backgrounds and swim levels. These team members are expected to meet the JCC and American Red Cross standards for safety and professionalism at all times. The JCC has multiple aquatics facility’s, Holland Family Building in Downtown Buffalo and Benderson Family Building in Getzville (by UB North), lifeguards may be required to work at both facility’s including our seasonal outdoor aquatics complex located at the Benderson Family Building. 

Requirements:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification

Daily Responsibility’s Include:

  • Patron surveillance and monitoring. 
  • Maintaining a safe environment.
  • Projecting a positive image and energy.
  • First Aid and Emergency response and preparation.
  • Teamwork and communication with Head Guards and Lifeguard team.
  • Cleaning and sanitation of aquatic facility’s and equipment. 
  • Chemical testing and daily documentation.

Lifeguard Instructor – L.G.I.

The JCC L.G.I. team is responsible for providing safe, effective and high quality aquatic and safety training for members, guests and staff of all qualifying ages, backgrounds and experience levels. These team members are expected to meet the JCC and American Red Cross standards for training, safety and professionalism at all times. The JCC has multiple aquatics facility’s, Holland Family Building in Downtown Buffalo and Benderson Family Building in Getzville (by UB North), L.G.I. team members may be required to work at both facility’s. 

Requirements:
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification (L.G.I.)
Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification

The JCC W.S.I. team is responsible for providing safe, effective and high-quality aquatic training for members and guests of all ages, backgrounds and swim levels. These team members are expected to meet the JCC and American Red Cross standards for training, safety and professionalism at all times. The JCC has multiple aquatics facility’s, Holland Family Building in Downtown Buffalo and Benderson Family Building in Getzville (by UB North), W.S.I. team members may be required to work at both facilities.

Current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (Preferred)

The JCC Aerobics team is responsible for providing safe, effective and high-quality aquatic training for members and guests of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels. These team members are expected to meet the JCC standards for training, safety and professionalism at all times. The JCC has multiple aquatics facility’s, Holland Family Building in Downtown Buffalo and Benderson Family Building in Getzville (by UB North), Water Aerobics team members may be required to work at both facilities. 

Requirements:
1 year of aquatic and/or aerobic experience (Preferred)

Food Service

Concession Stand Worker – URGENT NEED

Snack Shack Concession Worker is responsible for operating and handling the concession stand. Work responsibilities will include food preparation, selling food and drinks, collecting money and tendering change, and picking up supplies and food items from vendors. Accuracy with money and change is extremely important. Workers must be welcoming and friendly to all swim club members and staff.

QUALIFICATIONS:

The ability to handle physical activities, stand and walk for long periods of time and lift weight in excess of 50 pounds is required. Must be available to work weekends, holidays and evenings.

Member Services Associate

Benderson Family Building 

Part time position available at our Member Services Desk. Primary position will be at Benderson Family Building; however, the ability to work at both locations (second location in Buffalo) would be preferable. Ideal applicant would be able to work mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends and some holidays. Candidate must be customer service-oriented, professional, and possess excellent communication and organizational skills. Applicant needs to be flexible, adaptable and comfortable with the latest technology. The ideal candidate will be a problem solver and have an upbeat personality.
