This coming April, the Jewish Community Center and Buffalo Jewish Federation are collaborating to host an Israeli artist for a three week artist in residency program.
Asaf Elkalai was born in Kerem Ben Zimra, and is currently based in Tel Aviv, Israel. He holds a BA in Photography from Bezalel Academy of Art and Design Jerusalem, MFA at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design and Art Education at The Hebrew University. Currently, he teaches at Ashdod Museum and works as a Social Projects Coordinator at Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
He will be joining us for three weeks (starting April 10) to lead interactive art workshops, participate in community events surrounding Yom Ha'Atzmaut and present lectures and slide shows about his work which includes a current exhibit at the Tel Aviv Museum called “Current Affairs and Contemporary Israeli art.”
