Schedule of daily group fitness/gym classes offered at the JCC’s Benderson Family Building location in Getzville.

20-20-20: 20 minutes of hi/lo aerobics, step, strength training and abdominals.

ASHTANGA YOGA: The class will begin with Sun Salutations A & B to warm up the body and establish a breath/movement connection which will prepare us for the standing, balancing, seated and finishing sequences that follow.  Students can expect to work on strength and flexibility in equal proportions while improving their balance and focus.  This class is approachable yet challenging and becomes more rewarding with consistent practice.  Some yoga experience would be helpful but is not required.

BASIC TRAINING: Strength training, agility drills, and high-intensity intervals.  Ignite your metabolism, strength and core control.

BEGINNER HATHA YOGA: Foundational postures (asana) and conscious breathing (Pranayama) in a instructional way, allowing time to connect breath and feel the body in the pose while adjustments are made.  Each class will provide the confidence needed to move into an intermediate class.  Perfect for those new to yoga.

BEGINNER MAT PILATES: A mind body discipline that uses breathing with exercises to develop core control.  The class will introduce participants to Pilates which develop mental power and control.

BODYPUMP: The original barbell class that strengthens your entire body.  This 60-minute workout challenges all your major muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises like Squats, Presses, Lifts and Curls.  Get the results you came for - and fast!

CXWORX: Hones in on the torso and sling muscles that connect your upper body to your lower body.  It's ideal for tightening your tummy and butt, while also improving functional strength and assisting in injury prevention.  It'll help you run faster... play harder... stand stronger!

CYCLING: Warm-up, steady up-tempo cadences, sprints, climbs and cool downs.  You control the resistance to adjust difficulty.

INTERMEDIATE HATHA YOGA: Use postures (asana) and conscious breathing (Pranayama) to develop awareness, strength, flexibility and relaxation.  This class has quick movements and is flow based.  Great for those aware of pose names and positions.

SENIOR YOGAFIT: Enjoy a relaxing yoga class geared to seniors and those with special conditions.  Our primary focus is deep breathing and relaxation. Senior YogaFit may be performed in a chair or using props to facilitate poses.  Beginner.

SILVERSNEAKERS® CARDIO: Safe, healthy and gentle on the joints.  Easy to follow low-impact movement and upper body strength, abdominal conditioning, stretching and relaxation exercises.

SILVERSNEAKERS® CLASSIC: Increase strength and movement for daily living.  Hand-held weights, elastic tubing, and a SilverSneakers ball are used for resistance. A chair is used for support.

TAI CHI: Practice movement without straining joints and muscles.  Tai Chi develops a coordination of mind and body, releases stress, strengthens and stretches the body, improving flexibility and balance.

VINYASA YOGA: Classes offer students a greater challenge.  Once postures are mastered, students are taught to “flow” or transition their postures in a breath synchronized motion.  Intermediate-advanced.

WERQ: This “fiercely fun dance fitness class” is based on pop, rock and hip-hop songs and easy, high-energy dance steps, for “dancers and nondancers”.  Use some dance steps and yoga-inspired static stretching.

YOGAFIT: Students will be lead through warm up, sun salutations, work phase, standing balances and then a cool down with seated and supine work as well as deep stretching.  Poses are linked to create strength, flexibility, endurance and balance.  Intermediate.

ZUMBA® GOLD: Designed for the active older adult or beginner.  The same great music and Latin styles of dance at a lower intensity and speed.
