Certifications at the JCC
The “J” has you covered!
With experienced Lifeguard & CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer Instructors, Water Safety Instructors, and Instructor Trainers, we are able to offer a broad range of classes and schedules, while still maintaining exceptional quality instruction.
Babysitter Course: Ages: 11+
Course covers interviewing, safe age-appropriate play, being a good role model, resolving conflicts, preparing for and responding to emergencies, and childcare skills. Certificate does not expire. Babysitter's handbook included.
Babysitter Course, Pediatric and Infant CPR Module: Ages: 13+
Additional training module to certify participants of the Babysitting Course in Infant and Pediatric CPR. Course components include learning to survey the scene, how to protect the rescuer and victim, providing ventilations, care for choking victims, CPR, and AED.
CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider Certification: Ages: 13+
Topics include CPR, AED, choking, rescue breathing, bloodborne pathogens, and responding to an emergency for adults, children, and infants.
CPR/AED/first aid for the Professional Rescuer and Health Care Provider Certification: Ages: 13+
Topics include CPR, AED, choking, rescue breathing, bloodborne pathogens, and responding to an emergency for adults, children, and infants. An additional 3 hour First Aid module is included.
Lifeguarding Certification: Ages: 15+
For individuals studying lifeguarding for the first time. Lifeguarding/First Aid certifications valid for 2 years, CPR/AED certifications valid for 1 year.
If you were previously certified in Lifeguarding/First Aid/ CPR/AED, you can take a review course to recertify. Participants must recertify all components. Lifeguard Certification must be current or expired by no more than 30 days on the first day of the course to be eligible--otherwise a full certification must be taken.
Water Safety Instructor-WSI: Ages: 16+
Advanced instructor level class from for candidates who want to become swim instructors, aquatics managers, or NYS certified Phys Ed. Teachers. Attendance is mandatory at all classes. Course materials may be downloaded from the American Red Cross Instructor's Corner website. Student teaching and classroom discussions. WSI is a lifetime certification. Contact Julie Kingsley to set up a Private Certification.
Please note that attendance at all registered classes is mandatory. Once registered, a $30 cancellation fee may be applicable or additional fees may be applied to schedule make-up classes. If the participant cannot pass the pre-requisite skills on the first day of class and decides to not continue, they will be eligible for a full refund minus the $30 cancellation fee. From 48 hours prior to the start of class and onward, no refunds will be issued unless the participant has a medical excuse with a doctor’s note. Please allow up to 7 full business days for certifications to process after successful completion of the course.
