Access Control System
What is an “Access Control System”?
For the JCC, an Access Control System is an automated system that grants or revokes the right to access our building and areas within the building through the use of an access card.
Based on the card holder’s access status (e.g. Health and Fitness Member, Children’s Program Participant Family) access is granted or denied to areas within each building.
The access card may be thought of as an electronic "key". The access card is used by persons to gain access through the doors secured by the access control system. Each access card is uniquely encoded. Our access cards are approximately the same size as a standard credit card, and can easily be carried in a wallet or purse.
The Member Services staff will be issuing access cards to each of the members that do not currently have one and will issue temporary day guest passes to guests.
Using the Access Control System
On the day the access control system is placed into service, all persons desiring to enter the JCC must use their access card. Using the access card is simple. To enter the building, the user simply scans his/her card across the reader, allowing the card to be "read". The card's identity will be verified electronically and the door will unlock immediately.
If a card is used incorrectly, the access control field panel will declare an "invalid access attempt". When this happens, please push the button for help from a Member Services Representative.
Please remember to scan because:
• The JCC is only able to provide senior insurance programs from revenue which is paid to us based on member use. We report usage by Silver Sneakers, (list other providers) when you scan in. Programs require adequate revenue to insure sustainability.
• The security of all members is enhanced by controlling access to our facilities. Everyone’s security is every member’s responsibility.
• Repeated offenses may result in revocation of membership. The JCC regularly monitors compliance of all member rules for your safety. Please do not take your responsibility for member safety. If you see something, say something.
Video System Support
We have video cameras at the entrance to both JCC locations so that we can keep an eye on the gated entry areas and is integrated with the gate intercom system and allow the member Services Staff to view who is at the door seeking permission to enter.
The access control system is also designed to provide security control of elevators. To call the elevator to the lobby, scan your JCC card and push the button for your desired floor. Once the elevator has responded to the lobby, the person may enter and travel to any floor served by the elevator.
